Meet Jake Schlack

Jake and his partner, Erik, on Mt. Hood

Jake was born and raised in Washington County, Oregon. He grew up in the Bull Mountain and Raleigh West neighborhoods, attended public schools, and frequented local libraries. His family taught him the importance of doing a good job, being consistent and reliable, and treating others with kindness. These values guided him to graduate high school as salutatorian, serve as student body president, and be an active school volunteer.

Jake earned a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics with Departmental Honors from Portland State University. He worked up to three jobs at a time to pay for college. In his senior year, Jake interned in the Oregon State Senate, where he learned firsthand the positive impacts that public service can have on people’s lives. After graduating, Jake quickly rose in the tech industry, becoming a senior data analyst with a passion for leveraging data analytics to deliver value to customers.

Jake and his partner, Erik, have put down roots in Tigard. He began volunteering on the Tigard Budget Committee in 2022 in order to make a difference in his community. He served two terms as Chair, during which he balanced letting everyone’s voice be heard with driving the committee to make clear decisions. Jake led tough discussions on how to best improve government accessibility and promote equity in community outreach. His proudest achievement was reforming the City’s grant programs to ensure taxpayer dollars are spent on initiatives that best meet community needs.

When Jake was appointed to the Tigard City Council on July 1, 2024, he hit the ground running. As Tigard’s first Gen Z City Councilor and a proud member of the LGBTQ+ community, Jake brought new perspectives and his data-driven approach to City Hall. He has pursued practical, common-sense policies with moxie and a collaborative leadership style. And he’s just getting started.

Jake is on the ballot in November and is running to make Tigard a great place to run your business, walk your dog, and raise your kids. With your support, Jake can keep up the fight and advocate for the needs of Tigard residents for the next four years.
